Pain

Yesterday I had rotator cuff surgery to repair a slight tear on my left shoulder.  However, when my doc got the scopes in it was completely torn.  So recovery became much longer and much more painful.  I have three overseas trips scheduled in the next 5 months, so life is going to be a challenge for a while.

The anchor is that I can rest in the fact that my Lord planned this and it has happened for His purpose and glory.  I am asking Him to lead me through this and teach me what He wants me to learn.

  1. I wish you to experience God and come to know Him better through the healing, Mike.
Reminds me of Amy Carmichael who being busy in India asked God to use her even more, and then broke her ankle. That allowed her to delegate more and write books.
Another one, I heard, prayed, "Lord grant me that measure of health which would bring more glory to You". That is a great example of God-centered attitude I wish I have and I know you do have.

  2. This scripture stood out to me the other day: "But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more." (‭Psalms‬ ‭71‬:‭14‬ NKJV). So, in the midst of pain, yet, I will praise Him.

Check out Andy Stanley's latest series, "In the Meantime: What to do when there's nothing you can do." This past Sunday, in stark contrast to the prosperity gospel, Stanley talks about Paul's affliction, and how he counts it as a gift from God to keep him from conceit.

Pain is not always bad, and sometimes even comes in the form as a gift from God.
