Submit

When my wife and I were married 35 years ago it was common to quote Ephesians 5:21 – 33.  You know the passage, submission and headship.  That has fallen out of favor in the last several years.  We do not hear that passage shared at weddings much anymore.
We should still be talking about Ephesians 5:21 - 33 at weddings... Thoughts at DTTB.
I think that is a mistake.  Not for what it says to the wife but because of what it says to the husband

Read through Ephesians 5:21 – 33.  Note how the husband is charged.  Look especially at Ephesians 5:23, 25.  The husband is head of the wife as Christ is head of the church and he is supposed to love his wife as Christ loved the Church.  Now consider what Christ did for the Church.  Philippians 2: 5 – 8 tells us that He emptied Himself for the Church.  The husband is to love his wife in the same way.

Not an easy assignment.  Submission to that type of leadership would be easier.
